Rutland Economic Development Corporation Highlights Award Winners at 74th Annual Meeting
Rutland Economic Development Corporation's (REDC) 74th Annual Meeting will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Rutland Country Club.
The meeting will highlight REDC's FY 11 Award Winners. John and Doug Casella will receive REDC's "Member of the Year" award. "These two individuals have quietly been providing a positive impact in this community for years. In the past year and past few months the Casella brothers have led our region in job creation and disaster response. REDC would like to take this opportunity to say thank-you to the both" states Jamie Stewart, REDC's Executive Director.
Ellison Surface Technologies will receive REDC's "Business Excellence" award for job creation. Annually REDC recognizes those companies that have distinguished themselves as significant positive drivers of our regional economy. Last year's recipient, Westminster Crackers, was expanding and creating jobs at the height of the recession. This year's winner seized on an opportunity when their partner, GE, saw new avenues for growth. They have grown and adapted to meet their customer's needs, making them a larger and stronger company for the future. With almost no turnover in employees, they have made themselves a preferred employer in the region, and a major contributor to our regional economy.
One "Service Award" will also be presented at the meeting. Thomas Huebner will be presented an award for his dedication and generosity of time. As the Chair of REDC's Marketing Committee Tom has helped shaped what is the new reality for the future of business recruitment. With limited resources available, REDC has developed a marketing plan that provides a greater chance of success while using new communication channels and being more focused in our efforts.
Thank you to our meeting sponsors: Berkshire Bank, Casella Waste Systems, Inc., Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS), Merchants Bank, GE Aviation, Omya, The Vermont Country Store, and Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO).
